Information for Nannies

What We Do And How It All Works

Finding a family to work for can be really tricky, Chickadee Childcare are here to assist and help you along the way. Firstly we will need you to fill in our registration form to give us an insight into: what kind of position you are looking for, your experience, qualifications and a bit about you as a person. Once we receive your registration form back we will then contact you to arrange an informal interview. Don’t worry! This is an extremely informal interview but it enables us to check your identity, right to work, certificates etc. From this meeting we can also gather a bit more information about you and exactly what sort of position you are looking for.

The registration process is more or less the same for babysitters but please fill out a ‘Babysitting Registration Form’

What To Bring To Interview

Following your interview we will write up a little profile about you to put in the ‘Information For Parents/Gaurdians’ section of the website. This will include your name, location and area you’re willing to work in, qualifications, experience and availability. We will send you a copy of this to proof read and approve before anything is published. Parents will then be able to request to see your full CV if they think they would like to interview you. Jobs will be sent out by email as and when they come in and will be distributed by email. Jobs will also be advertised on the website.

Jobs

If you see a job either on the website or in an email that you would like to be put forward for then send us an email as soon as you can. We will then send your profile and CV over to the family who will then decided if they would like to interview you. If the family would like to interview you then we will give them your phone number and/or email for you to mutually agree a convenient date and time. We will also drop you an email to let you know their contact details so you know who will be contacting you. Smartly dressed, with a positive attitude and a smile, take all your certificates along with you to your interview. We are more than happy to help you with any interview preparation, questions or worries that you may have, just give us a call, that’s what we’re here for. A guide to questions you may be asked at interview are in the link below.

Interview questions

After your interview we will speak to the family to obtain feedback on your interview and their thoughts about your suitability for the position. We should be able to share most of this with you upon request. If the family decide to offer you the position they will contact you directly, you must then contact Chickadee Childcare to confirm this. We recommend you have a new Disclosure and Barring Service when starting new employment, this can be done through the agency for a cost of £60 unless you have previously signed up for the updating service. We highly recommend signing up for the updating service as, at an annual fee of £13, you will not have to pay for another £60 DBS check and certificate. Future employers can then check your DBS status online. If you need to renew or gain a new Paediatric First Aid Certificate please see our training and events page for further information on upcoming courses. Any questions you have at all, please do not hesitate to contact us; we look forward to hearing from you!
